Extremely bad iPhone 17 battery life

I got my iPhone 17 back in October. Since then I’ve been having issues with my battery life. My battery goes down 1% every 2-4 minutes on average, which is very bad for a 3 month old iPhone 17.

I usually have to charge my phone twice a day, even with normal screen times (around 5 hours). I don’t use battery intensive apps, and barely use 5G (just wifi). I have background refresh off, and even have a plain black wallpaper. My charge limit is set to 90% for prolonged battery life and battery health still went down to 99% already (my last iPhone 15 took more than a year to go down 1%). I have some friends with the same exact phone as me, and their battery curve is way better and consistent compared to mine, even tho they have all the settings I mentioned on and have more screen time. I got the phone from an authentic Apple reseller, took it to them and they said the battery is fine. They just plugged the phone into some system. On paper the battery may seem fine but it’s not. What can I do?

Post a screenshot of both the graphs you see and the apps consuming your battery at Settings > Battery > View All Battery Usage. Several of the Meta apps have already been seen as being extremely power hungry, so if you have those try uninstalling and compare your results.

I would recommend using the Optimized Charging setting instead of a Charge Limit and charge your phone all night, every night. You should be experiencing all day battery life under normal conditions. If you are seeing a weak cell signal or it is frequently Searching for a signal, you will be using considerably more power as it seeks to connect to a distant tower requiring more power.

Did you buy from an authorized Apple dealer? If you did, their name will appear when you use the link to identify authorized dealers in your area.

Was the phone new, used,, or refurbished?

The reason we are asking is that our first thought is that you may have bought a phone with a "boosted" battery that was made to look better than it really was.

When you had the phone tested, did you take it to an authorized Apple servicer that appears on this list above? If not, you need to make an appointment at the Apple Store / Genius Bar or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop.

First, I would ask to speak to the manager at the dealer where you purchased the phone.

If no help, take the phone to another authorized service shop in your area to get another opinion. Personally, I would favor a dealer that only does service and does not also sell phones.

After that, your next step would be to contact Apple Support directly......we are not Apple Support on this user to user site......and ask them how to proceed.

Yes i bought it from an authorized Apple dealer.

The phone was brand new.

Yes when i had it tested i took it to the same seller i bought it from. All they told me was the battery is fine, cuz on paper it had 100% battery health. There isn’t a metric on how fast the battery is draining. I don’t think so it’s a software issue since i have most battery consuming settings off. Idk what else can be the case

I have bought a brand new iPhone 17 pro max and the battery is draining too fast. I have downloaded the application for technical issues but nothing happened. You mentioned that the battery can take over 36 hours of continuous use on videos but even if talking it’s still draining too fast. Can you please advise me with a solution
