It sounds like you don't have a Passcode on your phone. If that is the case, anyone who picks up your phone can access the settings and data on your phone.
Tap Settings
Scroll down and tap Face ID & Passcode
If you see Turn Passcode On......you don't have a passcode set up for your phone. Tap to set up a Passcode. Write that down and keep it in a safe place......even if you are sure that you will never forget it.

I think Bob Timmons has the answer
Settings, Face ID & Passcode, Require Passcode, Immediately.
What is the time limit on the Passcode?
If you set up a Passcode for 1 hour for example, once you have tapped to unlock the phone, the phone will stay unlocked for the next hour. so anyone can open the phone during that time.
There are options for time outs of 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, etc.
If still no help, I would suggest Turning Off the passcode, powering off the phone, restarting the phone, and set up the Passcode again.
After that, the next step would be to make a current backup of the phone, then erase the phone and restore your data from the backup.

Are you certain that your daughter has not learned your passcode?
That’s the weird thing, I do have my password enabled. L
