How do I selectively store and access data across devices without re-downloading entire libraries?
How do I control where my data is stored?
For instance: I create a lot of new files or voice memos in the course of my work, often on my phone. I want to keep some of them, but not on my phone, bc that fills up quickly. So I would like to move them elsewhere, for example to the cloud or an external storage device via the cloud. Then I want to delete them from my phone, but keep them in those other locations. Support tells you to do that by turning of synch & then deleting those files from your phone. HOWEVER - that means I can never turn synch back on again to upload new files, doesn’t it? Or else all the previously uploaded stuff gets re-downloaded, clogging up my phone again.
Maybe I just don’t get it but I feel I have zero control over how and where to store my data. *I do NOT want to synch everything to all my devices all of the time, but I would like to be able to use all my apps on all of my devices all of the time ACCESSING ONLY THOSE FILES I CHOOSE at any given moment*.
In other words: I want to be able to build a library of my files in my Cloud and then selectively choose what to access from that library on a device of my choice at a time of my choice, without having to re-download my entire library.
Can someone please tell me how to achieve that?? Just toggling synch on and off seems an incredibly blunt tool. Surely I’m not the only person with this issue and SURELY Apple is better than that.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
