SIRI no longer reading texts in CarPlay 2019 Honda Touring

2019 Honda Accord Touring

IPhone 13 using 26.2.1 (a hateful update)

CarPlay issue

After the last update for both my phone and my husband's (same as above):

via USB wired for CarPlay.

SIRI no longer speaks when I say - 'send message to' nor does she then repeat what I have asked her to send (that setting to send automatically is off)

nor will she read new received texts back to me (her little circle spins and poof, nothing)

She will read texts via BlueTooth only, not wired.

I have turned the phone off and on

I have disconnected and reconnected BlueTooth

I have turned off and on CarPlay 'announce'

I have turned SIRI off and on (also setting for announce, etc)

I have had CarPlay forget and rediscover the Honda

I have had CarPlay allow while locked

I have reset CarPlay's included apps

I have turned messages - Announce - off and on

Changed USB cables also.

I'm at my wit's end ... my only other thought is to (scary) reset the phone (just settings?) ... the thought alone makes me want to hurl.

After right after that latest update I also lost all access to our ALARM.COM notifications. And had to do a weird work-around to get them back.

So very frustrated.
