Colored email flags not synching between devices

Colored email flags are not syncing correctly between macOS and iOS. They always sync to the default red-colored flag on the other device. I have 1 iCloud mail, and the other mail addresses use Exchange (not IMAP).


I have read that I should work with Exchange accounts but for some reason it does not work for me.

I also read the following information in the documentation of Apple in the "Tips" app:


Note: Flags you add to a message appear on that message in Mail on all your Apple devices where you’re signed in to the same Apple Account.


  1. I am signed in on the same account on my iPhone and MacBook.
  2. I can see that there are various mailboxes created for each flag in my iCloud mail account in which all flagged emails go from various exchange accounts (attachment one and two).
  3. When going to my mail on my iPhone, I do not see the mailboxes are synced to iCloud under any account.
  4. I have iCloud mail enabled on both iPhone (attachment three) and MacBook (attachment four).
  5. For my iCloud mail, the flags work as expected.
