MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) Firefox as browser. When I open a doc in Preview, it opens layers of previous docs unrelated to the one I'm opening. How do I set Preview to open only one doc at a time. Settings are set to open one doc only. Help. Thanks

You close each of the other docs' windows with command-W (⌘W) before you quit the Preview app. Once closed, they should not reopen the next time you launch Preview, though they may remain in the File > Open Recent menu until you Clear that menu.
