Post-update issues for iOS 26.2.1

After I updated for iOS 26.2.1 on my iPhone, Mail search is completely useless. I am a researcher and know how to use keywords and when searching for something I know is there, the search comes up either empty or with one incorrect result. I could search very specifically and know that there should be be 20 or 30 or 100 results, but it comes up with nothing. It worked fine before I updated.

Also, this update seems to use a lot of space on my phone. I realize there is indexing, etc. that could cause a temporary bulge, but this seems excessive. I've done all the usual steps (restarting, giving it a few days, etc.). Maybe it will come down over time or with the next update.

Finally, I've noticed some serious lagging issues within apps. Again, I'm sure there is some indexing at fault, but this seems excessive and unusual. I'm getting spinning wheels on WiFi in some social media apps still, even after deleted them and reinstalling and all the other things.

I wish I hadn't updated to this 26 OS. Seems not ready for prime time. I thought if I waited until there was a .2 or whatever, that I would be spared any drama. Oh well. This is minor compared to the real problems people are facing right now in their lives.

I know there are no real workarounds and I am also reporting this elsewhere. But was curious if these blips were just happening to me or to others. Thanks!

Troubleshooting iPhone Mail:

Getting

A. Add the Account Back:

Remove the eMail Address from your Mail App, and then add it back.

B. New App Password:

Note that you would need a new App Password, being that Mail is a third party app. You cannot log in using your eMail address password. As an example, go here for gmail: Sign in Using App Passwords - Gmail Help - Google Support

C. Use WiFi:

Are you using Cellular? What happens when you use WiFi, and vise versa. Any difference?

Troubleshooting iPhone Storage:

Clear Space Using my User Tips:

A2. See if you need to clear lots of space. System resources may be using up too much services, making it overheat. Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. So, the maximum internal storage capacity never increases, even if you upgraded your iCloud plan. Learn More here: What's the Difference Between Device Storage and iCloud Storage? Apple Support

So, what to do...

Clear Space, Using my User Tips:

Reluctanccy of Updating:

"I wish I hadn't updated to this 26 OS. Seems not ready for prime time. I thought if I waited until there was a .2 or whatever, that I would be spared any drama. Oh well. Give Apple Feedback:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know how gmail is a bit better.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. These are just User-to User Forums. Apple will know nothing of your ideas, if you don't provide them to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: on how things are going different. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
