iPhone Mail: Dark Mode email unreadable, visible on forward

I have a reptile enclosure using an automated thermostat. Periodically emails are generated displaying temperatures being monitored and sent to my iCloud mail account.

The issue is information in the email body on my iPhone is unreadable. Yet I figured out if I forward (and this is prior to forwarding the mail) the text body is visible.

I do run dark mode. And switching to light mode solves the issue. But I’m trying to understand why it’s visible in dark mode when I forward the body.

I have checked both options of loading messages remotely.

I’m on an iPhone 16 pro max running iOS 26.3 (23D125)

The first image is what I receive with the email and the second image is the forwarded email

User Tip from a respected community member:

To Beta or Not to Beta - That is the Ques… - Apple Community

Eg: says:

"Beta software is inherently buggy. Testing the software is the entire point so it is stable and works as designed when it is officially released in the fall.

Beta software should NEVER be installed on your primary device, but if you have a spare device you don’t care if it performs as expected that is the only device you should install the Beta on.

If you install Beta software on your device, you CANNOT ask about or post about it anywhere, including this forum. If you do, expect the forum Moderators to remove your post. No one on this forum can or will offer help."

OK. Thank you ... separate devices are ... iPhone, iPad, Mac ?

Seems there's a setting that may be triggered in the forwarded message.

Eg: On a Mac, to reveal "invisible" text when appearance is set to dark mode:

in the Mail app: It is View > Message > Show Light background

yet I guess that's not going to be useful in your particular circumstances.

You may need to "select" the text to read what is there,

or, if needed, change the text colour to white from the toolbar.

To automate: I don't know whether there are "rules" that can be set

or perhaps a "shortcut" that can be used or devised.
