Problem with Messages: Cannot send to self, contact blocked

On my previous iMac I was able to send a message, via Messages, to myself from that iMac (my method of a quick “reminder”). I purchased a new iMac loaded with Tahoe 26.2 a few days ago. Now, when I try to send a message to myself Messages doesn’t even find my contact information. Rather I’m a green “Siri found in Apps” with an “800” number for a company I deleted from my system months ago. And when I check my Contact card, even though it has my correct cell number, it shows that I’ve somehow blocked myself. Any ideas?

Check you are correctly signed in to your new Mac with your Apple Account details:

Apple Menu > System Settings > [Your Name]

If needed: See how to Sign in to your Apple Account on the web or in your device settings - Apple Support

If you haven't seen or used it already:

See how to: Set up your My Card in Contacts on Mac - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Contacts automatically creates a contact card for you when you set up your Mac. You can change the information on your card, use a different picture and even add a nickname for Siri to use instead of your first name." You can scroll to: "Make changes to your card" in the abov article, if needed.

Then: Prevent contacts from communicating with you on Mac - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Unblock a contact

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Privacy & Security in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Click Blocked Contacts.
  3. Select a contact to unblock, then click . "
