Why does my Intel iMac take so long to boot up?
I have an Intel iMac running MacOS Sequoia 15.7.3. The machine is generally well behaved, but when I restart after a normal shutdown, it takes several minutes to boot up, and as soon as I start Safari (which has the very reliable BBC News web site as its initial page), again several minutes can go by before the page appears.
My network is stable and reliable and connects without delay to my other Apple devices (iPhone, MacBook Pro) and can also stream Netflix, Apple TV etc to my TV with no delays.
I tried getting Activity Monitor started to try to see what was going on, but there seems to no unusual activity or overload as far as I can see.
Can anyone suggest what's wrong?
