iPadOS 26.2.1 & Apple Intelligence storage on iPad Air 5
The total file size IPAD OS 26.2.1 on IPAD AIR 5th gen is 26.62 GB. This is a problem since my model of IPAD has only 64 GB of memory. I had to delete some apps and message pictures to make it work. I had no idea that the file would be this big. On My iPhone 15 PLUS the total file size was only 13.15 GB. I finally realized that Apple Intelligence takes up another 8.14GB on the IPAD; whereas, the iPhone 15 Plus does not support this feature.
I first thought something went wrong and the download was corrupted. I even went as far as backing up and erasing and resetting the iPad to factory settings. After all that was done, it was a little better than before with 15 GB remaining instead of only 6GB.
QUESTIONS:
- Is there any way to not install the apple intelligence feature?
- Is there anything else to do to reclaim some memory?
APPLE should tell you the size of the files before you download. They were forcing you to upgrade as no more security features were available for downloading on IOS 18. (At least that is what I heard.)
