How do I access my Apple TV library of films on an android mobile device? The Apple TV app does not show my library - why is that? I've paid Apple for the films and should be able to watch them on any device I choose to use

The simple answer is that you cannot. Unlike a physical Bllu-Ray, you purchase a license to use digital content, you do not own it.

You post that as though I should have known. It doesn't say any of that when you buy a movie. I happen to make my purchases on a Samsung TV and would not expect there to ever come a time when I can't watch my purchases on a Samsung TV and have to purchase an Apple product to watch them instead
