For some unknown reason, I can no longer select the compact tab layout for Safari in settings.
Earlier, I noticed that Safari would switch back and forth between the compact and bottom tab layouts while browsing.
Now, only the top and bottom tab layouts can be chosen in the settings for Safari. The compact tab layout option is grayed out.
What would cause the option to be disabled?

Compact View Being Dulled Out:
Providing a screenshot of your screen would most-certainly help. IMPORTANT: Black out personal info (i.e. names and time) by covering it with red-colored rectangles and such through use of the Photos app. Go here: Take a Screenshot on your iPhone - Apple Support
If is it greyed-out, then it might be a Screen Time restriction.

If operable, then I'd say your all set form here. Just report it.
Report this as a Bug to Apple:
Being that it is inaccessible in Settings, yet is useable on the app, then this seems to be a bug from within the iOS.
Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue. Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this occurrence, if you don't report it to them.
