MacBook Pro M3 Pro screen suddenly went black — system still working fine

Hello Everyone,

I bought this MacBook on the April 2024 in Israel, it was working normally and it's screen suddenly went black.

Same Incident happened a week earlier then i was normal after sometime, then after week same issue repeated

Since then, every time I restart:

The keyboard backlight turns on

I hear startup sounds and system audio

The Mac charges normally

The **splay remains completely black (sometimes I notice a faint grey flash for a moment, then it goes dark)

Things I’ve already tried:

Forced restart by holding the power button for 10 seconds

Connecting the charger

Closing the lid for 15–20 seconds and reopening

Shining a flashlight at the screen (no visible image)

It seems like the system itself is functioning, but the **splay isn’t showing anything.

Has anyone experienced this on an M3 Pro MacBook? Could this be a backlight issue or a loose **splay connector? Is there any way to confirm whether it’s a hardware problem before taking it to an Apple Authorized Service Center?

Here's Apple's advice: If your Mac starts up to a blank screen - Apple Support

Note the last bit: If your Mac continues to start up to a blank screen, it might need service. Get service.

I'd add (in fact, I'd try first) connecting an external display, perhaps a TV via an HDMI cable. If that works normally, then it's almost certainly a display hardware issue with your Mac.

M3 MacBook Pro Screen Issue:

No. I have not experienced this on an M3 MacBook Pro. However, after installing High Sierra on my 2018 McBook Pro, the screen blacked out. I sent it in 11 times during COVID. Having been so patient and in correspondence with Apple support, I was granted a free $2,500 free upgrade..

Connected Splay Not being Seen:

A. Mirroring an External Display:

When connecting" an external display, {hold down: command key + press F1 key]. It will mirror, if seen.

B. Verify the Connection:

  • Go to: Apple Menu
  • Hold Down: option key
  • Select: Sytem Information
  • Select: Graphics/Displays

C. Reinstall the macOS while Screen Mirrring:

When booted up, use the keyboard shortcut listed above (A.), and perform a system reinstall. A system resin tall replaces damaged system files, and replaces missing files).

How to Reinstall the macOS:

Nothing would be deleted. It's just that items that have become corrupted or deleted, would be replaced or reinstalled back to where they should be. Go Here: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support.

Important: Be certain to create a backup of your Mac prior to performing the reinstall. That way, you can have something to restore from the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall. Once reinstalled, try this once more, seeing if you still get this error.
