Microsoft Office insufficient memory when there is sufficient memory

Office for Mac insufficient memory bug

Impossible to save Word Office doc because of "insufficient memory" ?

'Word has insufficient memory. Do you want to save Word Work File ***.tmp as'

On both Macbook Pro 2023 and Mac Studio 2023, with PLENTY of memory.

Everyday I have this error message when I try to save or close a document (that I have been saving regularly throughout the few hours I have had that document open). Do you want to save this file in RECUP ? When I click OK, I receive a new error message saying 'Word has insufficient memory. Regardless if I click 'Yes' or 'No', the document does not save the changes I have made (the changes that I had previously successfully saved).

This looks like a very old same Msoft bug I had in the early 2000, when files unexpectedly crashed and I lost days of work despite files had been saved a few moments before.

I saw many users complaining of this also under Windows, but no solution offered.
