Since update to 26.3, wallpaper is black, both on lock & home screens. If I play with settings inside Settings, not lock screen, I have gotten wallpaper on home screen but never on lock screen. Any minor adjustment and all wallpaper goes black, which is where things stand now. 13 Pro Max iPhone. Please help.

UPDATE... I solved the issue on my phone.
Apple will never convince me that the update had nothing to do with this problem.
I checked and rechecked my settings...all looked okay.
Here's what I did...
On the lock screen....at the bottom it says "focus". I tapped it...I changed it to "work". The home screen background immediately changed to the original one I had set up. All the other wallpapers I use also changed back to their original colors!
Every time there is an update... something changes on its own!!
You can toggle it back on. I had the same issues turnign it off fixed it, turning ot back on DO NOT rebreak it. I also hate glass look and the notications etc. Go ahead and turn it back on, you should be good. This was just a bug
This reply fixed my problem. HOWEVER, reduce transparency means that all the other transparency reductions are voided.
So now, in order to get any background other than black, users have to turn off ALL transparency reductions.
Apple, why do I have to choose between a wallpaper and the transparent headings, etc.?
When will you get some real world usability help? Please Please Please do so.

If you are having problems with your iPhone after upgrading to iOS 26.3.2, where the screen’s background goes Black, try this.
Go to:
Settings > Display & Brightness
Make sure that Liquid Glass is set to Clear.

Ok, you say not caused by 26.3 update but this issue occurred just after the update was installed and had never happened prior to the update. I’d guess I am spot-on with my presumption, and this would not be the first time an update had unexpected unintended bugs. Apple tech support could not get things working correctly.
I already had it turned off even before the update, and after the update, it was still off. I toggled it. Kept it on, et voila. The issue is fixed now. I agree with your comment, 26.3 is designed for a "glass" look. Interesting way to keep people using the not-so-good look.
That’s not the user experience I’m reading. Once you’ve changed from black background to something else, Reduce Transparency can be turned back on. Is your user experience different or you just haven’t tried it yet?
Thank you - This worked like a charm! Apple needs new QA processes! Don’t change things automatically- ask me if I want the new thing instead of just doing it! So annoying - thinking it is time to go to Android!
Mine too after the update the wallpaper becomes black.I already did the how to fix turn of the transparency then restart and then turn on again the transparency, but still my wallpaper is still black.. ***

I agree! Lately the updates screws something up on my iPad 10 that I never had problems with prior. The black screen thing was happening both on my IPhone 15 —ChatGP walked me through a couple things and think I’ve got it. But when I’m typing anything a bit lengthy my screen starts jumping all over the place and I’ve never had that problem before….sigh…
Same issue but mine is opposite. My lock screen is fine because it’s an image but the Home Screen doesn’t show the gradient color I have set. When I go to edit it, it recognizes that the gradient is what it’s set to and shows it. But as soon as I close the edit it becomes black with my apps on top. I have even selected a different solid background, saved it and had the same issue. Done that and switched it back and still not working.
someone please help cause I’ve messed with my settings, lock screen pair setup, and Home Screen setup for focus and can’t find a way to fix it!!!

No I made sure those where off
I had -0- problems before the update. My lock screen is OK like before...the home screen background is black. I have done a reboot with no luck. I have changed my wallpaper...home screen still black.
Mine came back black after update 26.3. Tried several other colors and always returns to black.
