Brand NEW iPhone 17 Pro Max iOS 26.2.1 major issues
My family just switched from AT&T to Verizon a cpl weeks ago and we all got new phones, LONG overdue. I had an iPhone 11 Pro Max (with the last iOS 18 update), my husband and had an iPhone 11, and my 16 & 18 year olds both had iPhone XR's. I backed up my old phone phone first, and transferred everything from iCloud to the new phone. It automatically updated to the last iOS 26 update (the one prior to 26.2.1) and took forever to sync - like over 2 days. I noticed I was MISSING PHOTOS, EMAILS, TEXT MESSAGES, and PASSWORDS and noticed lots of other problems in function and saved things in other apps...
THEN, that same 2 days later the new phone just happened to automatically update again - to iOS 26.2.1. I would've never allowed it if I knew it was coming. All the problems have compounded, still missing photos, emails, messages, and saved passwords...
but ALSO the phone is slow & laggy, stutters when scrolling and also when typing messages...
THERE'S MORE....I was in bed one evening and heard this strange faint static-y buzzy sound. Couldn't figure out what it was, finally pulled my phone to my ear - and it was the phone! It was charging, plugged in with new iPhone-provided charging cable and Apple -yes brand- USB-C adapter/charging block...
AND MORE...I was signed out of every website I had saved or opened in safari as well as every app (maybe that's normal with new phone idk) BUT NONE of my saved passwords in the iPhone passwords apps were there. This has been a NIGHTMARE. There have been a few show up here and there, but maybe only as I added them??....b/c there are still WAY more on my old 11 pro max...
AND MORE!.... the camera is blurry in video especially in close up, in exact same setting I used for same work on my old phone that was crystal clear. I tried ever setting, the video quality was sub-par at best. Close up was grainy and blurry and impossible to focus...
IN ADDITION, I have emails saved going back to 2014, and nothing on the new phone goes back any further than 2020. Same with text messages; and the scariest and most upsetting of all, I am missing entire photo albums in the photos app - including in the "people" album of a family member who passed away recently. I've checked every single day since this debacle to see if they've "shown up" and they have not. :'(
It's absolutely freaking me out what all is missing. We were all so excited to finally get new phones after so many years, and this brand new 17 Pro Max is giving me so much anxiety I just want to bury my head in the sand and go back to my safe and secure 11 pro max where everything was as it was supposed to be...
OH ONE MORE THING that just happened today and actually inspired my search for support -- pages do not scroll on Safari. I enter something in the search bar (browser- bing) the results appear, but now I can't scroll. It's just frozen, showing only the first 2-3 results on the screen and I can't scroll down to see anything else.
I have no clue what to do about ANY of this, and am literally afraid at this point to try anything in fear that it'll just make things worse. But if anyone has any info or insight or known solutions, I'm all ears. Thank you. God bless.
