iPhone 15 Max: Text editor formatting re-enables

iOS 26.3 iPhone 15Max - Text editor in iOS Mail creation refuses to turn off formatting. I turn formatting on, make change, attempt to turn formatting off, select for text entry, and then formatting comes back on with selected text. No obvious reason why this happens.

Seems Mail is giving you issues here. So, report those to Apple: update your iPhone > provide feedback > reinstall the app.

I. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. These are just user-to-user forums. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

II. Update to the Latest iOS.

IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update

then..

III. Reinstall Mail:.

First...

Remove your iPhone from the eMail Provider.

Look up how to dissociate this email account from your device list (if applicable).

Turn off iCloud Mail:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: [your name] (top item)
  3. Tap: iCloud
  4. Tap: iCould Mail
  5. Toggle Off: Use on this iPhone

Then...

Remove Mail app:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: iPhone Storage
  4. Tap: Mail
  5. Tap: Delete app

Then...

Download the Mail App and Add the Account Back:

  1. Go Here: Mail - App Store - Apple
  2. Add: the eMail account.

Then...

Restart the iPhone:
