The Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse with the USB-C port both require macOS Sequoia 15.1 or later. Your MacBook 2017 is not compatible with macOS Sequoia.

You will need to find the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse with the Lightning port instead. Apple no longer sell them but you will find them at other resellers.

Here are Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse options that will work with your MacBook model — your model supports Bluetooth peripherals (macOS with Bluetooth and OS X 10.11 or later) like Apple’s keyboards and mice, so almost any modern Magic Keyboard or Magic Mouse will work just fine via Bluetooth pairing.

Compatible Apple Keyboards

  • Apple Magic Keyboard (USB‑C), Model: MXCL3LL/A
  • Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. Note: Touch ID only works on Macs with Apple Silicon (so with your 2017 MacBook you’ll get all keyboard functions but not the fingerprint login feature).
  • Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID & Numeric Keypad. Note: Same issue as the one above.
  • Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad

All these use Bluetooth to connect. They’ll pair directly with your MacBook without needing any special adapter.

Compatible Apple Mice

These wireless Magic Mice connect over Bluetooth and will work with your MacBook’s Bluetooth:

  • Apple Magic Mouse (USB‑C), Model: MXK63AM/A. Note: For full functionality, your Mac must be running macOS Sequoia 15.1 or newer.

Compatibility Notes

  • Any Magic Keyboard or Magic Mouse that uses Bluetooth will work. Apple’s current models (USB-C versions) are fully compatible with Bluetooth like your Mac
  • Older Apple wireless keyboards/mice that use Bluetooth pairing also work, but they may use Lightning cables for charging — as long as they’re Bluetooth-capable and the Mac has Bluetooth, they’ll pair.
