get my nano going again

iPod nano 7th gen ...

did a restore via "music" (iTunes) ...and accept it may have finally died the slow death

but figure I'll ask here 1st ...any suggestions / clues / hints ..to get it running

after restore, attempts, several, to synch kept giving me info that did not work; 1st aid, mount , stuff I actually do not know about...seemed pretty much frozen up... at 1 point my Mac told me "could not read" the disk

so, if there is / are other steps, an old guy can try ...I'm all ears / eyes ...however aged those senses are
