iOS password manager overwrites current data after iPad restore from backup

I am using iOS password manager on iPhone 14 and 9th gen iPad, both are synced normally. I had need to restore iPad from backup and it restored password data from the backup, overwriting current password data. That can’t be the intention.

That is absolutely the default intention.

If it’s personally not your intention, then override the default by setting up iCloud Keychain, which will store your passwords in iCloud.

If you have enabled Passwords & Keychain in iCloud, your saved Passwords will synchronise with iCloud and will not be included in your device backup. As such, upon restoring a backup, your saved Passwords will reload from iCloud, not the backup.

By contrast, if you have disabled Passwords & Keychain in iCloud, your saved Passwords will be included in your device backup. If you restore the backup, your locally stored Passwords will be overwritten by the backup data.
