Lock tables/charts to prevent affecting other content

Is there a way to lock tables in place where they won't move unless you manually move them? Right now if you expand or move tables, charts, etc., it affects everything around them. I want to lock in place everything unless I manually and specifically move the tables, charts, etc.. Can this be down?

To be clear, I'm NOT talking about locking cells so that nobody can change data. I'm talking about locking down where the tables on a Numbers sheets so that they don't move "no matter what" unless I pick a table, etc., and manually move it/them.

Right, so as we described, select one of the tables, go to the format inspector, then the arranged tab, and then click on lock. That will prevent the table for moving when others around it increase or decrease in size.

You can lock a chart to keep it in place. You don't need to enter data in a chart so you would only have to unlock it to make changes to it. But a locked table would be a problem for you because you cannot enter data into a locked table. I do not know of a way to keep tables anchored to the sheet while still being able to enter data and formulas.

You can put in a feature request to have checkboxes for Lock X Position and Lock Y Position in the format sidebar. I don't know if they'll ever do it but it sounds like a good idea to me.

Hi OlsonBW,

Numbers allows several objects (such as tables, graphs, etc.) to be linked across several sheets. Consider arranging your document around tables on "Input" sheets and other tables, graphs etc. on "Presentation" sheets.

Take a look at the excellent examples in the inbuilt Templates in Numbers for ideas on how to get the best out of the Numbers paradigm.

More information on your need to lock an object on a single sheet may lead to a solution.

Apparently I didn't explain myself well enough.

Say I have four tables such as below where there is room between Table 2 and 4 and I DO NOT want table 4 to move no matter what! Is there a way to lock the placement of table 4 so that it NEVER moves no matter what, including if another table would end up overlapping it.

Sorry. Thank you. I'm just so frustrated, mostly with what my mind USED to be able to do and what I struggle to do now. And to be clear, pain and medications take up a lot of brain cycles where they are screaming for attention just like the thoughts you are TRYING to think. Enjoy things the way they are.

During the '80s and '90s I could pretty much do anything I could think of. But then our thoughts weren't as complicated as they are now because we didn't need AI because the amount of data or the things people were asking for were a lot less. Those were the best times for me for programming (COBOL, C, JAVA, and others, and scripting languages. If only I got paid a percentage of what I saved the bank I worked for I would be rich. But stock in a bank didn't swell like with tech companies and I chose job safety over the chance to get rich. A lot of people lost everything while I stayed comfortably middle class. And now my brain CPU cycles are getting drained from pain and meds.

Although I DO put in Feature requests. I've probably put in about 30 for Numbers alone, plus some for other Apple apps and MacOS too. Including getting the Excellent designers that Apple USED to have "back in the day" where they cared about design AND functionality. Now they can't seem to get their head out of their ...
