When we get our Apple Account, we all get 5GB of iCloud Storage for free. Over time, that simply isn't enough storage for our phones to sync and backup to iCloud. If you are out of space on iCloud, which I'm sure is what you're facing, you can upgrade your iCloud Storage to the next level, which will cost $1 a month and you'll get 50GB of iCloud Storage. Are you certain the mail is from Apple? I get scam emails almost daily telling me that my iCloud storage is full and that I won't be able to do things until I buy some more. Have you checked your iCloud storage status on an Apple device in Settings?

You're right to ask this question. It certainly could have been a scam message, like we all get on a daily basis.

Northgate107 should go to Settings on their iPhone > Tap their name at the top > Tap iCloud and see how much storage they've used out of how much available.

Thank you for asking this important question.
