Heating issue iPhone 17 base model

I recently bought i phone 17 base model, and i have put a case of esr brand. While i was doing video call for almost 30 mins, the phone starts to heat up fully, the whole body, screen starts to heat. Then i cut the call and remove the case, then the phone back to normal temp. This heating issue comes whenever camera is used for a long time with the case. And also while i was charging also with case phone starts heat, where as if the case is not there then there is no heating. So is this normal?

Honestly, a video call for 30 minutes would be one of the most battery pushing things you can do on an iPhone. And when you push the battery, it generates heat. That is called thermodynamic exchange. I have used ESR Cases for a number of years and yes, any case will contribute to heat generated during a lengthy video call to be trapped. I wouldn't think this issue is with the case itself. Most cases are not really designed to dissipate heat. They are designed to protect the phone from damage in a fall. I'm currently using Apple's TechWoven case on my iPhone 17 Pro Max and I routinely do lengthy video calls. Even with an Apple case on my iPhone, the back can get quite warm during a lengthy video call.

If you're not seeing a temperature warning on your screen, telling you the phone needs to cool down before it can be used again, I wouldn't be very concerned. You can't avoid heat generation when doing something as battery intensive as a 30 minute video call.

Clearly, you are telling us that the case that you are using is not allowing the iPhone to regulate its temperature effectively.

while i was charging also with case phone starts heat, where as if the case is not there then there is no heating.

As to whether this is normal, you would have to ask the customer support people at ESR. My opinion is that the case that you are using may not have been designed correctly.

It is normal for the iPhone to become quite warm with extended camera use, even if you are not using a case.
