Numbers 15.01: First page images won't print/export to PDF

Numbers v15.01 – Images on First Page Only Do Not Print or Export to PDF (MacBook Air)

I am a long-time MacBook Air user and have used Numbers for many years without issue. I recently updated to Numbers Version 15.01, and since the update I am experiencing a new printing problem.

I use a Numbers worksheet to track my mixed media sculpture inventory. The document contains:

7 columns:

Inventory (quantity on hand or “C” for Companion collection)
Type (bird, deer, sea life, seasonal, etc.)
Name
Price
Description (dimensions, materials, etc.)
Picture (inserted image of the sculpture)
Date (completed/added to inventory)

Between 70–100 rows

Typically prints or exports as a 25–30 page document

The issue:

Images on the first page only do not print—either as a hard copy or when exporting to PDF.

All subsequent pages print images correctly.

Important details:

Print Preview shows the images correctly on page 1 and all other pages.
If I print/export only Page 1, the images still do not appear.
This issue began only after updating to Version 15.01.
I have recreated the document from scratch and the issue persists.

Troubleshooting already attempted:

Checked headers and layout settings
Deleted images, saved, closed Numbers, reopened, and reinserted images
Verified Image Fill is set to “Scale to Fit”
Tested printing page 1 only, and Pages 1-2 only
Tested exporting as a 1-page PDF

The problem consistently affects only images on the first page.

Please advise on possible causes or settings that may have changed in Version 15.01 that would affect printing of images on the first page only.

Camelot - Thanks for your response….

I created a new sheet (not document) and had same thing happen( not printing embedded pics Page 1 only)

As a terrible work around, on the original document I inserted 3 rows and increased the row size to make original Page 1 become Page 2…. New page 1 is just blank rows/cells and new Page 2 (original Page 1) now prints the pictures imbedded in the cells…

Answers to your questions:

Does this happen consistently with other documents, too? No

Are the images embedded in cells in a table (my assumption), or placed directly on the page? (and does it make a difference?) Yes, embedded and Image Fill is set to “Scale to Fit”

Does the same thing happen if you open the document in Pages 14.5 (I assume not, but have to ask, for completeness :) ). 🤦‍♂️ I had not tried printing the doc with V14.5 until your post, so I did try it and it printed with inserted pics! Hmmm… I am going to take on the daunting task to create a brand new document in V15 ... 72 rows by 5 columns... as Numbers has worked so well for my inventory for years...

I don't think you need to recreate the entire document - at least not at first... creating simple table with a few rows/images should be enough to prove the concept. If it works, you can add additional rows until it breaks (assuming there is some trigger that causes this).

I think there has to be something specific with this document.

I just created a quick table that included images in each row, and don't have a problem seeing, previewing, printing, or exporting the sheet as PDF.

Does this happen consistently with other documents, too?

Are the images embedded in cells in a table (my assumption), or placed directly on the page? (and does it make a difference?)

Does the same thing happen if you open the document in Pages 14.5 (I assume not, but have to ask, for completeness :) )
