MacBook (late 2006) screen is blank on startup

Help please!

So I recently purchased a plastic MacBook from late 2006. It turns on but the screen doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried almost everything on the internet. Any inputs that might work are welcome thanks!

Believe you’re correct, I’ll see if I can order replacement screen seeing as the hard drive had important information. thanks for your input!

I would not spend money on any replacement part, that is assuming that you can even find anything.

I do suggest that you remove the hdd from the computer and use an external drive enclosure or drive adapter cable to access the data from another Mac.

I believe that drive would be a SATA-1 interface, so something like this drive adapter cable could be used to connect and use it:

Sabrent USB 3.1 SATA 2.5-inch Drive Adapter - Amazon (about $15)

Have you considered that the screen may simply be failed. It is, after all, twenty years old.

Does the screen light up at all? If not, then the backlight component may be burned out.

That era Mac was built at a time when some electrical components were of questionable quality and susceptible to fail, particularly capacitors.
