MacOS26 breaks Compressor 4.7?

If you've been holding on to Compressor 4.7 for DVD and Blu-ray authoring (since Apple removed that functionality in later versions without warning or replacement), note that it seems that MacOS 26.3 breaks 4.7. As in, it won't even launch.

This is a point release. Not a major OS update. A .1 update broke backward compatibility with professional software and there was absolutely no warning during the update process that this would happen.

Has anyone found a workaround? And has Apple acknowledged this at all? I'd love to know if there was some compatibility notice issued that I missed, because I haven't seen one and neither has anyone else I've talked to.

That was released in 2023, so it has been considered outdated and unsupported for a couple of years now. It was going to stop launching eventually. With macOS 27 all those old apps will stop working altogether, and Rosetta will be dead. You could updated it, and get Roxio Toast for doing DVDs. Find the app, Get Info, see if you can turn Rosetta on in that window, that could help. Also, hold Opt+Cmd while launching to delete the pref files, that fixes things often. Apple has stated that older apps are going to quit working soon, they've been saying that for awhile now. And no OS update ever lists apps and versions that will not be compatible. Never seen that. It's not a thing. That version is 3 years old, and many updates have come out since, so you were working on borrowed time. And I think that should be obvious.
