How to update credit card expiry date and CVC

How do I update the expiry date and CVC on a credit card. I can't add a new card since it has the same credit card number and you can't have two cards with the same number and I can't delete the old one before I add a new one since I need at least one card on file! chicken and egg!

Please follow the steps in the link provided.

here it is again: click here ➜ If you need to change or update your Apple Account payment method - Apple Support

There should be an option to update the expiry date and CVV. You may need to click on "Edit" first.

If you have an active subscription update the payment method there first, then you can go back to your main account and either delete or update your card info.

Refer to this page for Apple Support features ➔ https://support.apple.com/contact

Select from the presented options until you find a solution for your issue, or see if there is a chat or phone call contact method offered lower on the page under “Get more help” (you sometimes have to narrow down the options multiple times before this is shown). If you do not see your issue, keep experimenting with any series of selections until you reach one that offers a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

This support article has various country telephone numbers for contacting Apple for support and service ➔ https://support.apple.com/106932 Scroll down to “Connect with live support”. If your country is not in the list, go to the “Other countries” entry at the end of the list and click on the “options” link. Not every country has telephone support, and phone numbers may only work when calling from the same country.

See this article for information about updating payment methods on various platforms (iPhone, Mac, etc.): https://support.apple.com/HT213276

Here is how you update your payment method on an iPhone or iPad:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Tap your name.

3. Tap Payment & Shipping (formerly Media & Purchases). You might be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.

4. Tap Add Payment Method, enter the new payment method, then tap Done.

5. Tap Edit.

6. Tap the red delete button next to the old payment method, then tap Delete.

Also note:

1) ”If you change your address, the credit or debit card information that you use with your Apple Account might be automatically updated by your financial institution, and you don't need to take action.” (More about that here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256197170?answerId=261707800022&sortBy=oldest_first#261707800022 )

2) “If there's an issue [such as you having a subscription or being a Family Sharing Organizer], add a new card first, then remove the old card."

If an app or feature on your device is not working, not appearing, or is restricted (grayed out), it may have been disabled using Screen Time, or by an IT administrator if you are using a device owned by an employer or educational institution.

- Read this support article If your Apple ID or other options are greyed out in Settings —> https://support.apple.com/HT213770

Tap Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy > scroll to Allow Changes and turn on.

- If the device is managed (Settings > General > VPN & Device Management), contact the I.T. department that is doing the managing.

If you are a member of Family Sharing but not the Organizer, read these about why you cannot add a payment method:

https://support.apple.com/108774 and https://support.apple.com/HT201359

In this case the Family Sharing Organizer needs to check their payment method is working.

I don't know why Apple will not let me edit my expiry date. There is no option on my computer or iPhone to do so. When I try to delete it, the response is that the "family organizer must have at least one payment method on file". That's fine, but the only payment method I have is the one that is on file and just needs an expiry date change. They only provide an option to add another card, but not a card with the same number.

I follow the steps exactly as written by apple, and there is no option to edit.

Apple will not let me edit the expiry date on the card I have saved with them. I tried to add the new card, but it is the same credit card number as the older version and it would not let me add it, since I already have another CC with that same number on my profile. I tried to delete the older version so I could add the one with the updated expiry date, but I need at least one cc on my account so I can not delete the older version. I am stuck! Any other suggestions?
