Watch SE 2nd generation watchOS 26.3 selected watch foce does not persist. I can select a default face on my iphone, but after a while it switches to face 2. Annoyance, but happens frequently.

Either a long press on the watch face or an edge to edge swipe will change the clock face. I have done this (probably the swipe) unintentionally several times.
Go to the Settings app on your Apple Watch > Clock > Turn off Swipe to Switch Watch Face to eliminate this edge to edge swipe consequence.

what if you remove all but the face you wish to use from the watch?
you can always use the iphone watch app to add them again later if you wish
haven't experienced what you do, since they changed it so just a sideswipe would switch them though
