Why won't my macbook pro M3 import from a Mini DV camera?

I have been trying to get my sony Dcr-TRV18 to connect to my macbook pro M3. i have the following connectors for my system.

: 4pin firewire to 9pin

:9pin firewire to thunderbolt 2

:thunderbolt 2 thunderbolt 3


in system settings under thunderbolt3 it recognizes a firewire adapter connection.

Apple removed Firewire support in Tahoe. That camera has a USB port and that may be alternative connectivity option with a USB to USB-C cable, or conversion dongle. Then you need video capture software on the Mac that is compatible with that camcorder's recording formats, as I do not believe this is as simple as dragging the video from the camera.
