Word processing software old Mac

Hello, I am on an old iMac running 10.13.6 and I cannot upgrade the OS any further. I am trying to install any word processing software that will work with it. I did download a couple, but neither worked. Can anyone help me? I prefer free because I use this computer rarely.

Non-standard word processing software such as Bean

may do well for basic uses, with modest capabilities.

Worth a look around the install certainly, but iWork Pages is not part of macOS itself, and may or may not be installed here.

Ok, I was a little fast on the draw there. I am so used to Pages, Numbers & Keynote being on all the Macs that I handle that I forgot they had to be installed/accepted via the App Store. They became free on all new Macs back in Oct. 2013 (Mavericks era).

If @rowleykats does not already have Pages on the "old iMac running 10.13.6" he/she should see if it can be downloaded from the App Store.

FWIW, I happen to have an unopened iWork 09. I suppose I ought to put it up for sale on eBay. 😉

That won't be possible unless, perhaps, @rowleykats has previously downloaded an old version of Pages from the App Store, and is able to re-download that version from the Purchased tab.

Apple has raised the system requirements on the current version of Pages yet again. It now requires "macOS 15.6 [Sequoia]" or later. I'm guessing they raised the requirement from Sonoma at the same time as they added some in-app purchases for features available only to Apple Creator Studio subscribers.
