Apple ID Locked & Activation Lock – No Recovery Options Available

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice regarding my Apple ID and Activation Lock situation.

About a year ago, I purchased an iPhone second-hand from a shop. I have been using it normally with my own @icloud.com Apple ID since then without any issues.

Recently, my Apple ID was locked for “security reasons.” Because of this, my iPhone is now stuck on the Activation Lock screen.

The problem is:

  • I no longer have access to the iCloud email mailbox associated with the Apple ID.
  • I still have access to the phone number I used when creating the account, but it is not appearing as a verification option during account recovery.
  • There are no other trusted devices or recovery methods attached to the account.
  • Since the phone was purchased second-hand, I do not have the original retail invoice from the first owner. The seller also does not have it, and the original retail purchaser cannot be contacted.

I have already spoken with Apple Support, and they informed me that without a recovery method or original proof of purchase, there may be no available solution.

I completely understand Apple’s security policies, but I wanted to ask the community if anyone has experienced something similar or knows whether there are any additional recovery steps I could try.

Without the original purchase receipt, as you've learned, Apple can't help you. The only way to remove Activation Lock yourself is to enter the correct Apple Account email and Password. My guess is that you bought a second hand iPhone, which was never prepared correctly for a new user. This would mean you MUST know the Apple Account and Password used to set up the phone originally. Since you wouldn't know that, you unfortunately have a brick you can't ever used again.


There is nothing anyone here can do to help you bypass Activation Lock. Sorry. Time to buy a new phone.
