Apple Watch won't connect to Apple TV for Apple Fitness+

My Apple Watch only connects to Fitness + on Apple TV every 20 or 30 attempts, if at all. Everything has latest software. I normally restart both the watch and Apple TV.

As soon as I tell the Apple TV to connect, it appears on my watch to pair, but then the egg timer of doom appears and just spins. Sometimes it never stops spinning. Other times it claims I'm in airplane mode (I'm not). Then very occasionally it will connect.

It's driving me mad, it's the most buggy Apple experience I've ever had
