iPhone 16 Pro video recording has high-pitch screech

Got a high pitch screech instead of proper audio when recording a personal home video using iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 26.3. Videos recorded a few minutes earlier and a few minutes later in the same location with the same subject had proper audio.

Have been an iPhone user since iPhone 4 but I've never had this problem before. Any ideas on how to recover the actual audio (assuming it's a 26.3 glitch)?

A. Reset your iPhone (NOT to Factory Settings):

Quite a phenomenon for a one-time-only occurrence. For future avoidance, reset your iPhone. Nothing would be deleted; it's just that preferences would be reset, such as network settings, and screen brightness).

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Transfer or Reset iPhone
  4. Tap: Reset
  5. Tap: Reset All Settings

B. Get this Serviced:

Being power may be of concern here, I'd say look into getting this serviced.

So, Get this iPhone Serviced, ASAP:

To go through Applesetup a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store, taking it in for service. There, it will be diagnosed, and you'll be provided with a cost. or see an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) in your local area.

Contact Apple:

Or...

Contact an AASP:

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to fix the iPhone

High-Pitch Screech After an Update:

When it comes to distorted sounds (such as static), I don't recall coming across a report of a "high-pitch screech" at all. Is it still occurring at this moment, and only in this location? If so, it is likely interference, commonly reported around lighting strikes, power surges, power spurs, and even microwaves. Out side, the utility company may be working on a pole and then the power gets a surge or spur, if and when plugged in and charging.

B. Try Speakerphone:

If so, what happens when you try speakerphone? If you hear it, then it's likely a glitch in the Phone app. If not, then it's probably a hardware issue in the

C. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

It just happened yesterday for 1 video. No lightning strike, power issues or microwave running nearby.

As I said I was able to record videos in the same location with the same subject a few minutes before and later without any audio problems. Since I have recently seen citations getting included when copying-pasting just simple words, I thought Apple may be working to introduce some masking for copyright protection with 26.3 which converted the audio to a screech. If so, that is clearly buggy as the audio was just a toddler singing, no copyrighted content. Very annoying to have lost that audio. Have reported the bug to Apple.
