Erase iPhone 13 mini with shattered screen for trade-in

my iPhone 13 mini has a shattered screen. I replaced it with a new iphone 17 and used my cloud backup. I need to erase the old phone so I can turn it in for my trade in value. All the references of how to do this require steps using the old phone which I cannot do because of the broken screen.

Am I’m missing something? Want to make sure my data stays inaccessible to anyone else.

thanks

Erasing this Phone:

If Find My was never set up is a not enabled on this iPhone, then erasing would only be able to be performed by screen replacement. If erasing it is a must, then replacing the screen would be the way to go about it, especially if important info on it --old iPhone or not.

Securing your Info:

A. Removing from Trusted Devices:

If you do not want to replace the screen, then I would recommend securing your account, and removing this from your list of devices: View and Remove your Devices that are Associated with your Apple Account for Purchases - Apple Support

then...

B. Verify your Devices:

Verify that all devices are logged in to your account, by using this link: Check your Apple ID Device List to See where you're Signed in - Apple Support

then...

C. Modify your Credentials:

Having been stollen, someone lily has your credentials. So, by all means, modifying them.

As for Getting a New iPhone Screen:

Apple would not replace such a screen as old as this, unless it were a "must" (from a legal perspective, such as a warrant). So, see an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) in your local area. Be wary as to where you get this item, ask you may get an error of an ungenuine screen. So, to avoid this continual message, it is best to have an AASP replace the screen. So, where to get a new iPhone screen:

Contact an AASP:

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to replace the screen.
