Phone switching on by itself how?

If I switch off my phone at night, by the morning it’s switched on again, is my Apple Watch doing this? And how do I stop it happening?

iPhone 14, iOS 26

If the phone is completely powered off your Apple Watch cannot power it on by itself. Why would you power your phone off at night? It's not recommended. What is recommended is to plug your phone in to charge when you go to bed, leaving on its charger all night, every night, with your phone connected to Wifi so it can backup to iCloud nightly. This is how Apple designed it all to work best. You can use a Focus to ensure you are not disturbed by your phone when you sleep. Necessary background activities will happen while you're sleeping. Your battery will love longer too. You're honestly NOT doing yourself any favor by powering off your phone when you sleep.

So, there’s multiple scenarios that can cause this. Proximity to a wireless charger is one for sure. Another is calendar events with reminders. This could be a glitch, but could be part of the process. Another option is Find My app trying to establish a connection with a device to establish current location.

I don’t wirelessly charge, but my wife, son, grandkids etc. have told be this. I can’t verify but worth considering. Separate your devices by a foot or two. The other examples I’ve personally experienced. I’m 69 and my sleep paths not ideal and I’ll personally witness what you’re experiencing. Just my take, your mileage may vary.

a Apple Watch cannot turn on a phone by itself …it may be caused by notifications or lift to wake , if you didn’t lift it there are many other common reasons

Software Bug or Hardware Issue: A corrupted iOS version or a failing battery might cause unexpected reboots.

A update, if your phone needed to update through power off it will turn on by itself but not sometimes

make sure there’s no issues through the phone …any other reasons it might be a corruption or error

I just did a search and someone came up with the answer….

I seem to have figured out. When you go to power your phone down towards the top there is some prompt that says something about “being able to find your phone” if you tap that and say “no” then it appears your phone will not turn itself on….which is so not cool…anymore.

That is called Find My Network. It is simply a notification and there is no option to permanently turn off Find My Network except in iPhone, Settings, [tap your name], Find My, Find my phone.

I don't believe that is the reason it turned on. It may simply be a bug.

If you plan your store an iphone for several months, that is the time to turn off Find My Network but you could certainly try it now.

It's OK to power off at night if the OP wants to. I power my iPhone off at night. I don't use iCloud backups and as long as Optimized Charging is turned on it doesn't really matter when you charge it.

Not many here would recommend turning off at night, most users would want photos curation and iCloud backup, but your opinion is valuable.
