Unable to Update Apps Installed with Another Apple ID

Apple made a really stupid change in iOS 26. Now it’s impossible to update an app that was installed under a different Apple ID.

Yes, technically you can sign out of your current account and sign in to the other one to update the app — but that’s extremely inconvenient. Previously, you only had to enter the password once (until the next reboot), which was much more practical.

Is there any other way to fix that?

I'm afraid not. Unless you are part of a Family group and the app can be shared that way, you will have to download it again, using your Apple Account.

That is most definitely not something new, it has been in effect for as long as I can remember the App Store and iTunes Stores existing (several decades). You either need to have your device using the account, or at least your Media & Purchases set to that account.

As mentioned in another post, if you were previously a member of a Family Sharing group and downloaded that app, then when you left the group you lost access to it.

Either way will have to get your own copy or join that Family Sharing group again (if the original purchaser is still in it). I'm not sure but to get your own copy you may need to delete the app entirely (and lost any data associated with it) and then get a fresh copy.
