How to check authenticity of Anker power bank with model A1681631?

I bought one Anker power bank with model A1681631 and UPC ***. I can find one power bank with model A1681631. But I can’t find that with UPC search. Is the power bank I bought authentic or fake?

Original Title: Is the product with the same model but the different UPC compared with the product listed in MFI list authentic?

Contact Anker for clarification. Authentication is not possible on the MFi search tool as a UPC/Model label can be placed on any counterfeit product. That is where you have to trust the seller where you purchased the product.

The manufacturer that seeks MFi certification submits the information to Apple to be used in their Search Tool, so if there is any discrepancy, then the manufacturer must correct that data. You can conclude that Anker has not submitted that UPC to Apple for certification.

  • So both UPC and Model can’t be used to recognize fake products. Is that right?

Correct I could import a counterfeit product and print out a label with any Model number/UPC and sell it to you. The MFi search site will have no way to know if that product is fake or not.

  • I bought this power bank from one store listed in Direct Online Sales of https://www.anker.com/wheretobuy. Does that mean I will always buy one authentic product even though UPC is not listed in MFI page when model is listed in MFI page?

Hard to say. You see under the Direct Online Sales of Anker that Amazon is listed. While Anker may have an authorized Store Front on Amazon, it certainly would not mean that every seller on Amazon is going to sell you an authentic product. It is between Anker and its Authorized Sellers to ensure you are getting an authenticate product and that part does not involve Apple at all.

As you have seen, Anker has not submitted that UPC to Apple for MFi certification. That is all Apple can tell you. The site only works when a manufacturer opts in to provide Apple the necessary information for certification.
