iPhone deleted emails not going into trash folder

deleted emails not appearing in my IPhone trash folder. Up until a couple upgrades ago all was fine. On my MAC when I delete an email it goes to trash folder where I have the opportunity to recoup the deleted email but not so on my iPhone. Again. This occurred after a previous software upgrade and I just decided to live with it but when my screen saver photo started to appear upside down after another upgrade it was time to post these apple problems with software upgrades. Thank you folks.

You did not disclose which email account you are using, iCloud, Gmail etc. The following applies to the iCloud account, however will also work on other email accounts with slight variation: Try the following on your iPhone:

Open Settings ➡️ Apps ➡️ Mail ➡️ Mail Accounts ➡️ Tap on Your email Account ➡️ Mailbox Behaviors ➡️ Under Mailbox Behaviors tap Deleted Mailbox ➡️ Ensure that it is set to Deleted Messages on the Server and NOT Trash Under On My iPhone ➡️ Back out and save

If the above works, then deleted emails on your iPhone will go to the Trash folder again, just like on your Mac.
