Can't copy/past images since iOS 26

Prior to iOS 26, I had no issue. Ever since iOS 26 I am unable to tap/hold a web image (jpeg, png, etc.), select "copy" and then share that image in iMessage by selecting "paste" into the message box. What I get now is this, every single time:

I've searched high & low for an answer. Lots of "can't copy/paste" problems out there, but it's always for text, or to Android users, or some other issue that is not what I am experiencing. I have to download the pic to my photo Library, then I can copy that image and past it into an iMessage, but it's a bunch of extra steps and I don't need copies of every image I share clogging up my photo Library. Things like sharing a quick meme or image from a hobby forum used to be quick & easy, but now they are tedious and annoying. Any help is appreciated.

A couple of comments: 1) nobody is “shilling “ for Apple, and it doesn’t forward your cause to insult someone trying to help you; 2) the files you are working with may not be “corrupted”, but the file name, or rather extension, certainly is, and this is directly why you can’t use it.

I attempted, with assistance from some friends, to replicate your issue, and cannot. So this is obviously not an iOS26 issue per se.

The one thing I can recommend are the following: restart the device, or force restart it https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/force-restart-iphone-iph8903c3ee6/ios

you could also consider clearing browser cache.

There are circumstances where web page images can be protected from copying, but based on the limited information you have provided, I would think that unlikely in this case.

Copy/Paste feature issues are not always the fault of the iOS update!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

Shilling for Apple isn’t going to correct my issue.

I’m not blaming iOS 26, but it is 100% relevant to the issue that my problem coincided specifically with that change to my phone.

My phone is not jailbroken.

Your corrupted file answer is funny because if that example file is corrupted then so is every single web image I try, because they ALL appear similar. How is that possible? None of the same images were corrupted prior to the iOS “upgrade”, but you’re right that may only be a coincidence.
