Your shared album photos are grayed out with a cloud symbol because they aren’t fully downloaded to your device. This happens when iCloud can’t sync them due to storage limits, network issues, or a stalled Photos sync. The cloud icon specifically indicates the photo is stored in iCloud but not yet available locally.

Try the following steps, one at a time, to resolve the issue:

  • Ensure that you have storage space available on your iPhone by opening Settings ➡️ General ➡️ About ➡️ Available: Here you will see the available storage space on your iPhone.
  • Connect to a strong Wi‑Fi network and disable Low Data Mode.
  • Go to Settings ➡️ Photos ➡️ Shared Albums and toggle it OFF, then ON again.
  • Make sure you have enough iCloud storage; Shared Albums don’t count toward storage, but your device still needs space to sync.
  • Restart the Photos app and reboot your iPhone.
