Can I buy a brand new iPhone pro max 17 unlocked from Apple to use as an iPod and be able to hook up a brand new Apple watch to it? Price isn’t an issue and I want brand new for both so please do not talk about used iPhones or watches as I see this in many other answers. Yes, I believe you should be able to do that. I don’t see any reason it would not work, purely from a technical perspective.
Neither iPhone nor Apple Watch need cellular connections to function and work together, so yes, it should be possible.

With help from an experienced user or perhaps an Apple Store, a provisional yes. While it won’t have a cellular plan unless you activate one, it will need WIFi to access internet, which can be restricted via other processes. Original iPods had no cellular or WiFi connection and required a computer to sync/add music. Most services can be turned off or restricted. However, children are resourceful. It’s only a matter of time until they learn to circumvent some restrictions.
This isn’t the place for rumors and speculation, there’s a strong suspicion Apple might introduce a 25th anniversary iPod.
I think they should be able to assist with helping to setup the devices and enabling some restrictions and disabling some services. This can work, but requires a little patience and overtime some tweaks may/will need to be implemented as the user gains experience.
There’s lots of options to explore. You can usually make an appointment for the store to have a specialist assist you exclusively. This is subject to available staffing at the store. They should be able to assist you at 1-800-MY-APPLE in booking an appointment.
It could be as early as next week. Your other dates are possibilities as well. That’s the issue with this type of speculation. No one participating in the communities would have any specific knowledge of the product etc.

Are you talking about on April 1 they’re 50th anniversary or are you talking about in October which is when they released the OG iPod or are you talking about this March 4 experience?
