MacBook Air Voice Control - Dictation won't turn off

I am using Microsoft Word (desktop version/not subscription) on my MacBook Air.

I want to use voice dictation to input text in a word document, so I added the Voice Control icon to my top menu bar (using System Settings/Accessibility/Voice Control & toggling it "On".

Dictation works beautifully in Word - right up to the point where I want to turn Voice Control off, but I can't easily do so.

I want the Voice Control icon to function like a toggle switch. (Click it to turn on; click it to turn off.) Is there a workaround for this?
