Mail app authentication fails after email password change
I recently had to change my email password for security reasons. Since I use the Mail app to send and receive emails, the app gives me an error code saying
“Cannot Get Email
The connection to the server failed.
Server code’ AUTHENTICATION-FAILED’, server message ‘AUTHENTICATION Invalid credentials’.”
Prior to iOS 26, Apple made it easy to help you update your email password on the Mail app through its settings, but now it’s nearly impossible to fix this. To add insult to injury, the password I made this morning is now invalid on my email account and I’m jumping through hoops to try to fix this.
Apple, as much as I appreciate your efforts to protect your users, you’ve made it even harder to update our email credentials for the Mail app when we use Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo.
Does anyone have the same issues? If so, what did you do to fix this? And can Apple fix it on their end?
