This behavior with the contacts generally happens due to:

  • Sync conflicts between iCloud and another account
  • Cached or stale contact data being pushed back to the phone

Delete the contact from iCloud directly:

  • Sign in at iCloud.com ➡️ Contacts ➡️ delete the card there.
  • If you sync contacts from Gmail or another accoun then:
  • Open Settings ➡️ Apps ➡️ Mail ➡️ Accounts ➡️ select the “account” ➡️ Set Contacts to OFF ➡️ wait and then ➡️ turn it back ON ➡️ delete the card again if it returns.

If the contact still reappears even after deleting it from iCloud.com, Apple Support needs to investigate the sync loop. Contact 👉 Apple Support
