Did you have Find My enabled on the phone?

If so, you can use Find My on the Web to

  • Mark your iPhone as lost
  • Try to track your iPhone
  • Optionally, request a remote Erase

If you did not have Find My turned on, there is no way to trace your iPhone. (Carriers can trace the locations of cell phones, but generally will not, except in extreme cases like missing person cases where there is a court order.)

Keep in mind that there are various things that could keep Find My from showing a location for your phone, such as it running out of battery power, or the thieves placing it in a special bag that blocks radio signals. Also, if you see a location, do not go there yourself to confront criminals in person. You might lose a lot more than just a phone.

Do not remove your iPhone from the list of devices associated with your Apple Account unless you want to make a "gift" of your iPhone to the thieves. Removing your iPhone from your account will instantly clear Activation Lock – allowing the thieves to reset your iPhone and "make your phone their own."
