No.
The 2009 can run up to El Cap but nothing newer.

as already explained, El Capitan is the end of the road for that MBP.
I also have one of those models. it was basically useless due to the extremely outdated OS X. I was ready to bring it to the recycler's. but then I read that I could install Linux Mint and run that instead of OS X. it has given the Mac a new life. and apparently, mint will likely be supported through 2029.
The MacBook Pro 15 Inch 2009 can not run anything newer than OS X El Capitan

One alternative is to sell it to someone who wants to import DV or D8 which newer Macs can't natively do!

that is certainly true. but, one, good luck finding someone that has that need. and two, that person likely already has a machine that is old enough for that purpose. ;)
On another note my iMac desktop 21.5 inch A2116 model is slower than the second coming. I was told the HDD was bad and I’m having trouble finding a solid state for a replacement. Does anybody have any ideas?

I would recommend shopping at OWC’s website for an SSD DIY kit. and you can look at the self install videos on their site to determine for yourself if it is an operation you may be able to tackle, or if you will want to farm it out.

According to MacTracker, that is an iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2019).
If the hard drive is throwing errors that crash the system even when it is not in use, you may be forced to replace the internal drive (which is something you might want to leave to a repair shop).
However, that Mac has four USB-A ports that support USB 3.0, and two USB-C ports that support USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 3. If the internal hard drive will let you get away with it, it might be easier to get an external SSD, make it your startup drive, and stop using the internal hard drive for anything.
