Restart the computer by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds and then re-test. If the problem persists please use the following steps:

The following will require any USB keyboard and mouse. If you don’t have them, borrow or buy them, they are inexpensive!

1.     Connect the USB keyboard and mouse to the computer.

2.     Open System Preferences – Bluetooth

3.     Un-pair the wireless keyboard and mouse.

4.     Turn off Bluetooth

5.     Restart the computer in Safe Mode per the directions in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

6.     Restart the computer normally.

7.     Open System Preferences – Bluetooth

8.     Turn on Bluetooth

9.     Re-Pair the wireless keyboard and mouse.

10.  Unplug the USB keyboard and mouse and begin testing the wireless devices again.

You may want to give AppleCare a call 800-692-7753 — i usually get a person within 5 min but sometimes it takes longer — if you are not communicating well with your advisor, ask for a case number, excuse yourself and call back

iCloud is what’s syncing your iPhone to your Mac — what is synced is user configured — if you don’t want your photos or messages synced, for example, uncheck them in iCloud settings

Selectively turning off iCloud syncing is the first thing i check on an apple device so it doesn’t sync my stuff

I have always used Windows so I am new to the iMAC PC. I am not getting off to a very good start. When I was setting it up, it picked up information from my iPhone 15 that was on my desk. I did not want it taking information off my phone and putting it on the iMAC PC. Then I had to leave for a short while. When I returned the monitor was off and when I turned it on, I found the mouse pointer is frozen. I guess it got caught in a trap. I can turn the PC on and off, but I cannot move the iMAC's mouse to even log into my iMac. I have been unable to do anything. Searching the internet on my Windows PC, I just found additional instructions stating to use a different keyboard and mouse. I found another keyboard and mouse (not Apple) and plugged it in the iMAC. Now I can move the pointer, but I cannot log in. It says I cannot log in for 1 minute, then 2 minutes, then 5 minutes, etc. like it is in a cycle. Frustrating. I am an older person and trying my best to set up this new PC that I have had for quite a while. It is pretty sad that I cannot even use my new iMAC. I tried resetting my password because I don't remember it. Then I selected to use my Apple email address and password that I have been using for a while. Then I get this "An unknown error occurred." Whatever that is. I am giving up for now and going to bed.
