Credit release after MacBook Air order cancellation?

Hi, I purchased a MacBook Air 4 online from the Apple Store on Saturday. I canceled the order today (Monday) because I would like to switch to a MacBook Air 5 instead. However, I’m unable to place the new order because the credit limit has not been returned yet. Could you please let me know how long it typically takes for the credit to be released?

First of all, “today” (the day you posted this) is actually Wednesday, March 4.

Next, presumably since two days elapsed between your online order and your cancellation request, the order status was “Preparing to ship” when you requested cancellation. So your payment method was already billed, as you suggest.

From Apple’s Returns & Refunds policy:

”Once we receive your item, a refund is initiated immediately. If you canceled a pickup item, and you were billed for it, we initiate your refund immediately after you submit your cancellation request. The way your refund is processed depends on your original payment method:

  • If you paid by credit or debit card, refunds will be sent to the card-issuing bank within five business days of receipt of the returned item or cancellation request. Please contact the card-issuing bank with questions about when the credit will be posted to your account.“
