Fix or Patch for iMessage sign-in loop after macOS Tahoe update
iMessage Sign‑In Loop After Update
After the update, iMessage began repeatedly signing me out:
- I sign in successfully
- Messages loads briefly
- Then it signs me out again
- Loop repeats indefinitely
Other Apple ID services work normally.
Troubleshooting attempted:
- Sign out/in
- Restart
- Safe Mode
- NVRAM reset
- Rebuilding Messages database
- Toggling iCloud Messages
None of these stopped the loop.
This appears to be a post‑update authentication token issue in macOS Tahoe. The system accepts the login but fails to maintain a valid Messages token, forcing a logout.
System Snapshot Check (to confirm install state)

Snapshot for disk3s3s1 (1 found)
Name: com.apple.os.update-326E9088-A794-4235-AA29-372D5556E911
Only one system snapshot exists, which suggests the system volume was cleanly installed, but the Time Machine drive was auto‑converted during the update and its directory structure was damaged.

Summary
- The Time Machine drive’s APFS container and snapshots are healthy, but the root directory was damaged during Tahoe’s automatic Time Machine conversion.
- macOS Tahoe removed all snapshot‑mounting and snapshot‑restore commands, so the backups cannot be accessed through built‑in tools.
- iMessage repeatedly signs out due to a token refresh failure introduced in the update.
- Both issues began immediately after installing macOS 16.
